SEO is a short form for “Search engine optimization”. It is a long-term marketing strategy employed in order to improve a website's visibility and organic search results in Google and other global search engines. The goal of SEO is to have your website appear as the top result for relevant keywords when users search those terms.
The purpose of SEO is to fill any of a website’s deficiencies so that the site becomes more visible and attractive to search engines. The better optimized a website is, the higher its ranking will be on SERPs. Good SEO can help a website rank higher on SERPs, which leads to increased web traffic and potentially more customers or clients.
Some common methods used in SEO are optimizing title tags, meta descriptions, header tags, images and alt text, internal linking, etc. Title tags and meta descriptions are two key elements of on-page SEO. Title tags appear in the browser tab and tell both Google and visitors what your page is about. A good title tag should be less than 60 characters long and include your target keyword. Meta descriptions are the brief summaries that appear below your page’s title in the search results. They should also be less than 160 characters long and include your target keyword or phrase.
SEO also impacts the click-through rate (CTR) of your listing on SERPs. The CTR is the percentage of people who click on your listing after seeing it on a SERP
